McCann Family Blog: August 2010

Ronan's first birthday has come and gone. His one year stats are as follows: Height 32" (95%), Weight 21 lbs, 15oz (40%), Head 19" (95%). He continues to fall into the lollipop growth chart with his giant head and skinny little body. No walking yet, but he is cruising like a champ and loves his walker (video coming). He is trying hard to learn more words, constantly pointing and saying "daa" which we interpret to mean "what's that" or "give me that" depending on the situation. He is perfecting the word ball, now saying "baaw" with a little lilt at the end. He also likes to clap for himself when you say "good boy". This often means stop walking, let go of walker, sit down, and clap. It's too cute. Here are some party pics.

I feel like I haven't been posting much this summer and it's time to catch up! The most exciting Ronan update is that he turned 1 this week! It is hard to believe that it has already been a year since we met our sweet little man. At the same time, it is hard to believe that it has only been a year since he has been in our lives. What a year...both awesome and exhausting! Ronan is changing on a daily basis at this point. He is not walking on his own yet (I think it will be another couple months), but is cruising on furniture like a champ (and falling on his face like a champ). Bump, bruises, and blood are becoming the norm around here. He seems to have good timing as he waited until after his portrait session today to pull a daredevil stunt that resulted in a nice face bruise. He loves climbing the stairs, swimming, bubbles, and most of all...balloons. He is obsessed with balloons. He likes to point to them and say "da-da". He also like to point at dogs, lights, and fans and say "da-da". He appropriately calls Kevin and I "mama" and "dada" about 75% of the time and he says "ba" for ball. If you ask him to go get "baby" or "ball" he will either go to his baby doll or a ball. Pretty cool.

We are gearing up for the big pirate birthday party this weekend and I will post pics next week. He also has his 1 year check-up next week, so I will post stats. I will also start weaning next week...let's hope it goes smoothly:)

His 1 year pictures turned out cute, and I will have to figure out how to post them on the blog. How did the session go? It was like trying to get a 1 year old to sit for a portrait session. Hardy, har, har. Here are some of our favorite summer pics. Due to both an inability to edit myself and not having a camera for a month, there are many pictures.

First Irish Fest! Proud Papa! It was great to go to the Irish Fest this year. Last year, I was 9 months pregnant and we went to walk around to see if we could get this little man to join us in the outside world. It didn't work, but he did eventually decided to join us.
